About this site...

The entire LUCI site was designed and built by Steven Pritchard (with lots of help from Kara and others, of course). Of course, like everything on the web, there’s probably not an original idea on the site.

This site was inspired by various web sites of the late 1990s, including (but not limited to) Slashdot, Freshmeat, and tigert’s site. All original graphics were created with the GIMP. All HTML and CSS was hand-edited in vi, the way God (or Bill Joy, or somebody…) intended it.

From the late 1990s until 2026, the site was rendered dynamically by Apache and mod_perl with a MySQL back end, on a Red Hat Linux server whose uptime eventually became more impressive than advisable. It is now built with Hugo into plain static files — same look, a lot less moving parts — and served from a small Kubernetes cluster.

The mailing list archives are generated by MHonArc and preserved in full.
