It used to be you had to choose either scsi emulation or ide support.
With later kernels you are supposed to be able to have both compiled
as modules and use the one you want.  Of course if everything worked
using the scsi emulation, you wouldn't need to have ide support.
Unfortunately (for me anyway), I can't rip CDs using scsi emulation.
I've haven't tried including both, I had been rebooting and loading
a different kernel, so I don't have personal experience on if it will
work.
