That looks like a message from the tulip driver.  (You never did say
which card you have, BTW.)

Like I said before, make sure you are running 2.2.16.  The 2.2.16
tulip.c has this comment:

    /* Fixup for DLink with miswired PHY. */

I bet that will magically fix your problem.
