Re: my computer is......

Gary,
hope I,m not bein a pest here. I've reinstalled Mandrake 8.1 and still the
same problem. I actually think that it is recognizing my soundcard as a vga
device. (windows does this as well ive noticed until i install the drivers).
I've included mt XFree log if you have time to look at it. There is clearly
a warning in there ( which i noticed before) that there are 2 vga devices.
If this is the case then I'm gonna have to figure out why my soundcard is
being recognized as a vga device and 2 how to fix it. PCI slot 3 on my mobo
is the only one with its own irq, maybe i should move it there but it seems
that shouldnt matter. Maybe I'm wrong but there is definately a wrning in
the log file. Again thanx for your help. By the way if your at the meeting
to nite I will be there as well and I look forward to meeting everyone.

                                     thnks, Mike

Hi Mike,

On Tuesday, December 11, 2001, 12:06 PM, you hammered out in part about "my
computer is......":

If no monitor, I would select the generic one, and go into options, and
hand select your hor and vert... you will see a range, also select a
range of refresh rates 50-80 or something like that, whatever falls in
your specs. The key thing is that you have the specs to put in, so this
will be of benefit to you. I remember seeing an option to hand select
your monitor rates. It might be under custom install method, but should
be available under a workstation install. I just do not remember which
one, but do know you can do it.
