Interesting.  I was going to suggest using gcc32 until I read that
last line.

If I may make a suggestion...  Before screwing with your system *too*
much, you might consider trying to get this all installed in a chroot.
"apt-get install mach" and give me a call if you want some help with
that.  :-)
