Potential Meeting Topics

The following have been discussed as potential meeting topics:

• TCP/IP Network Configuration
• Email Configuration
• Procmail (mail filtering)
• Mail Clients (elm, pine, mutt, etc.)
• Emacs
• Kernel Configuration, Compiling, & such
• Using Kernel Modules
• Using Linux as an X Terminal/Server for an X Terminal
• NFS
• Samba
• Building {Red Hat,Debian} Packages
• Using the Shells
• Databases
• Graphics (imaging, visualization, animation, 3d-modeling)

I can think of several others, including the following:

• Graphics Programs (i.e. GIMP)
• GGI
• Linux Games (DOOM, Descent, Quake, Quake II, etc.)
• Security
• ssh
• IP Masquerading/Firewalling (AKA Setting Up a Linux-based Router/Firewall)
• vi (A much better topic than emacs, IMO. ;)
• Emulators (dosemu, wine, Wabi, Executor, VGB, iNES, bochs, etc.)
• Linux on non-uniprocessor Intel systems (SMP, Linux/Alpha, Linux/Sparc, Linux/PPC, MkLinux, etc.)
• Clustering
