We've had this discussion before...

Charles: "What exactly is a firewall?!?"
Tim: "Its a machine that controls ip traffic based on a set of rules..."
Charles: "Cisco does that..."
Tim: "but Cisco doesnt do such and such..."
Charles: "I CAN MAKE IT DO THAT, so why is it better to have a firewall?"
Tim: "..(longish pause)....It just is..."
