| Hello All: I've been lurking for months, trying to hold on
until I knew enough that my questions would be somewhat intelligent...oh well. I
tried. :-) ...First Q: Building an Apache webserver at home with (newly
installed) RH6.2 and My startx command is not found. I know this means that the
proper X binaries' path needs to be set in my startup file. but I'm not real
sure where my real startup file is...Is it the profile file in /etc? Or the
.bashrc in /root? Or the bashrc in /etc? My research also pointed to an inittab
file that looked like a true startup file, but I'm not sure how it works with
the others. And, although I think I found them once, if
someone could give me a way to identify those binaries *definitely* so I could
be sure about the correct path to them, that would be great also. Anyway, I'm not big on necessarily having a gui
except that for all of the mistakes in file management that I'm making in these
early stages of learning it might make things go quicker ...Q number 2 (this one's a little tougher, I
think) I've loaded and configured (generically, using
./configure) mysql 3.22.32...but when I make install it aborts the installation
as follows: make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'my_init.c',
needed by 'my_init.lo'. stop. make[1]: Leaving directory
'/usr/local/mysql-3.22.32/client' make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Error
1 Thanks in advance for any assistance, folks. Mark M. |
