Re: retiring e-mail revisited

Scenario 1:

You all have this gigantic email, and it was taking way too much space,
and you don't even need it anymore, but every night I have to deal with
backing up 300K x 1,000 users, and the tapes can barely hold it, and
management won't approve a new backup system, and it's starting to
become a problem, and so I'm going to have to go into each of your
mailboxes and delete this turkey.

Result: Robert Threet can't handle this system. And I don't like how he's
invading our privacy. Maybe the boss's nephew, Joe, should be the new
SysAdmin? He's rally good with web pages & stuff.

Scenario 2:

Robert deletes the emails without saying a word. Two people notice. Robert
informs those two that it was a special SysAdmin email & that it was set
to expire after a month. (No, ordinary users can't exercise that option.)

Result: Our highly capable SysAdmin can do things that we cannot. He must
have had years of training.
