CD Audio Interferes with Modem.

This is a weird one -- I thought at first that it was merely
a Frequently Recurring Coincidence...

- Audio CD off, ping:

 30 packets transmitted, 30 received, 0% loss, time 29319ms
 rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 159.550/159.917/159.967/0.510 ms

- Start audio CD, repeat ping:

 30 packets transmitted, 17 received, 43% loss, time 160849ms
 rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 149.831/166.896/259.890/23.719 ms

- Audio CD off, repeat ping:

 30 packets transmitted, 30 received, 0% loss, time 29299ms
 rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 149.951/160.895/169.934/3.964 ms

- Start audio CD, repeat ping:

 30 packets transmitted, 25 received, 16% loss, time 203419ms
 rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 159.514/175.010/379.760/48.902 ms

Modem on IRQ 3; audio card on IRQ 4; CDROM on IRQ 15.

A similar unresolved report of this from 1999. We have in
common external modems, but he says he has no problem with
regular audio CDs--my problems have been regular audio CDs.
