OpenVPN server and clients

OK, after many keyboard hours last ngiht, I have the openvpn server working with the windows client. 

One thing thats not working, however, is the Ubuntu client. Still trying to figure out whats wrong there. I am using the network-manager-openvpn plugin, and its setup seems straightforward, but i cannot connect. The debug from NM is pretty vague:
"could not start the vpn connection due to a connection error".
