Yup, that was that small part of the problem. Now I have messed around so
that it doesn't boot at all! It makes it through  untill it hits the
Adaptec raid part of the boot sequence, and then freezes. I can't even
boot of off a floppy!  Erg. 

  I know that it's my own fault--but still--I'm grumpy. Ah well, it'll
work out.
