Caldera

I cant even *begin* to describe how pissed
I am becomming with Caldera 1.3
I am running kernel 2.0.33 and everytime
I try to install software I get nothing but missing
dependencies.. Most of the software wants me
to be at RedHat 6.0 or above.. I have searched for
an upgrade path from Caldera and after a LOT of
searching their site, the only "upgrade path" I can
find is to download their 670MB cd *image* and
burn it to a cd... Needless to say, my 14400 connection
to the internet is not reliable enough to even consider that.

I'm thinking of trying to (gently) perform a manual upgrade
to a RedHat box.. But since this is a company machine
that must stay up, and since I have never attempted this,
I was hoping for some advice before I shoot myself in the foot.

Would it be wiser to completely scrap the Idea and start
building a RH box at home and just ghost the drives when
everything *appears* to work - or am I asking for a headache?
