I'll certainly agree there, PHP can be quite limiting at times.  I'm
specifically thinking of the regex_* (and preg_*) functions here, but
it appears that you've already seen those issues and more. :)

Ever used Cold Fusion?  Better yet, ever *installed* CF under linux?  It's
not MS, but it's still pretty crappy...
