Re: Fedora Core 2 Test 3

Ok, right now I'm working on a new Fedora core 2 test 3 installation,
upgraded from core 1. This is my day-to-day work machine, and as such has
a long history of messing-around-with. The new installation of course
looks just like all my other machines, running windowmaker. X seems to be
doing more than before, with constant 3-5% cpu usage. I forget what
it was before, but it wass less.

Sound isn't working now. I'll have to look further into this. The
system-config-soundcard script correctly finds the ensonic card, but the
module doesn't load right. Running it by command line looks like:

[root@vrmuseum erich]# modprobe snd-ens1371
WARNING: Error inserting snd
(/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.327/kernel/sound/core/snd.ko): Unknown symbol in
module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
WARNING: Error inserting snd_ac97_codec
(/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.327/kernel/sound/pci/ac97/snd-ac97-codec.ko):
Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
WARNING: Error inserting snd_timer
(/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.327/kernel/sound/core/snd-timer.ko): Unknown symbol
in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
WARNING: Error inserting snd_pcm
(/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.327/kernel/sound/core/snd-pcm.ko): Unknown symbol in
module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
WARNING: Error inserting snd_seq_device
(/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.327/kernel/sound/core/seq/snd-seq-device.ko):
Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
WARNING: Error inserting snd_rawmidi
(/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.327/kernel/sound/core/snd-rawmidi.ko): Unknown
symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
FATAL: Error inserting snd_ens1371
(/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.327/kernel/sound/pci/snd-ens1371.ko): Unknown symbol
in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

I'll work more on this, of course. Any ideas? There may be some screwy
things left over from earlier efforts of using alsa.

I've had to reinstall my favorite mozilla theme (skypilot).

I'm just glad that it rebooted right.
